DESCRIPTION:The Soul Stories artists present work that speaks to the urgent stories of our time. Each piece carries a message expressed through fabric and thread that invites viewers to pause\, reflect and engage. \nThese artists use their quilts to illuminate the realities of climate change\, homelessness\, endangered species and human hardship\, while also exploring resilience\, healing\, feminism\, spirituality and the legacies of history. These compelling works provoke engagement with the viewer\, asking us to look closely\, to consider deeply\, and to reflect on our own place within these shared struggles and hopes.

DESCRIPTION:From the New England Quilt Museum website:  “Since America’s first centennial celebration in 1876\, quilts have evolved from utilitarian bedcoverings to a medium of creative expression that transcends geographical boundaries and cultural differences. \nThe commemorative quilts selected for this exhibition serve as their makers’ historical narratives and archives of shared human experiences. In addition to many outstanding examples of patriotic quilts\, community quilts\, story quilts and historical quilts\, we are pleased to feature “Go the Distance\,” commemorating this year’s 130th Boston Marathon. This unique quilt is comprised of eight panels\, each representing one of the eight towns and cities on the Marathon route. \nAs America celebrates its 250th anniversary\, NEQM Curator Pamela Weeks invites all of us to reflect on the cultural milestones\, pivotal events and historical figures who have shaped our nation and enriched the complexity of our American identity.”
